How much should I be prepared to pay for a Professional Wedding Photographer?
Okay, let’s assume that you have done your homework, you have found a couple of wedding photographers and you like their work. They have shown you a complete wedding and not just their portfolio and told you about the services they have to offer.
Don’t forget to ask them if they work with an assistant, or shoot on their own. Having a 2nd shooter at your wedding can make a massive difference in terms of the type of shots you end up with and how much time you have to dedicate to the photography on the day. Then discuss what will be covered on the day. Bridal preparations, what is the location(s), location of wedding ceremony, location of reception. |
How much of the reception will be covered, right up to first dance? If you are answering yes to all of this, then your photographer will be working at least a ten-hour day plus traveling. This is on top of the time they will have spent with you at a consultation, plus an engagement shoot, which I include within my package at no cost, as it is a great way to get to know each other. Finally, what you won’t see is the one to two days work after the wedding, editing hundreds of images before they are presented to you.
If you are then buying a wedding book then there is also the time spent in designing this book for you. |
All in all, this adds up to a lot of hours of professional work so do not expect to pay a couple of hundred quid, a ball park figure would be around £1,000 but this would depend on what you wish to finish up with. Even if you are not ticking all of the boxes to the above list you have to bear in mind that a photographer can only shoot one wedding per day.
Getting married can be expensive, so why not talk to your photographer about gift tokens. Adding a photography gift tokens to your wedding present list could make all of the difference in getting that fabulous wedding book. |
